Two painted profiles often look the same. Meter price differs; the reason shows later — cutting, joints, radius bends, install. One length meets without a step; another needs fitting. One bends predictably; another varies batch to batch.

Feedstock, alloy, extrusion, heat treatment, die, wall thickness and coating all matter. Metal is the base. For Alumineu profiles: primary aluminium EN AW-6063 T5.

### What EN AW-6063 T5 means

EN AW-6063 is an Al-Mg-Si alloy for extruded architectural, interior and lighting profiles: good die flow, complex sections, paint-ready surface, corrosion resistance.

  • EN AW-6063 — alloy grade; chemistry per EN 573-3.
  • T5 — cooled after forming, then artificially aged.
  • Mechanics EN 755-2; tolerances EN 755 series.

The standard sets the frame; the producer holds stability.

### Why primary aluminium

Primary aluminium comes from alumina; then a controlled alloy. Value is controllability and repeatability — not the word “primary”.

Secondary from scrap is real industrial feedstock and can also meet EN AW-6063 with sorting and melt control. Not every secondary is “worse”. Scrap needs strict impurity control per melt. Alumineu chooses primary to remove one variable before extrusion — same behaviour today, next month and next batch.

### What the installer notices

Long runs meeting, cutting and drilling, radius work, harpoon groove shape, joint step, paint look. Alloy does not replace die, section and surface prep — it makes the result repeatable. On five metres the difference can hide; on dozens of lengths every correction is time.

### Light-line profiles and heat

In a profile with LED tape, aluminium sinks heat. Typical conductivity for EN AW-6063: about 200–220 W/(m·K). That does not cool every strip automatically — section, contact and power matter. Principle: spread heat along the length, cut local hot spots, ease stress on the polycarbonate diffuser. See also `polycarbonate-dyfuzor`.

### Price and comparison

Price covers feedstock, die, extrusion, heat treatment, inspection, coating and scrap. Cheaper via feedstock, mass, tolerances or inspection can still look similar in photos. Alumineu defines function first, then section, metal and process. The buyer pays for joints, install, geometry and the light line’s thermal regime.

### FAQ

Why primary EN AW-6063 T5? Controllable feedstock and repeatable material for precise extruded profiles.

Is secondary always worse? No. Controlled secondary can meet the standard. Alumineu chose primary for process stability.

What is the higher price for? Geometry, predictable install, surface quality and heat sinking.
